Curt Schilling’s ankle became famous around the world in his gutsy "bloody ankle" performance in 2004 enroute to a World Series victory for the Boston Red Sox. The Brockton Rox sought a way to commemorate this feat in an unforgettable fashion. The solution was the Bobble Ankle. Charity Hop co-founder, Mike Lembo, was instrumental in getting Curt Schilling on board through his ties with The ALS Association and Curt's Pitch for ALS, Curt Schilling's charity. Lembo helped oversee figurine development, marketing and public relations. He helped arrange proceed donations to two charities: The Shade Foundation (Curt's wife Shonda's charity) and Curt's Pitch for ALS. The figurine received a tremendous national buzz and was featured on ESPN’s “Sportscenter,”“Baseball Tonight,” and “Cold Pizza” as well as in publications such as the Sporting News. Between the two charities, more than 5,000 figurines were sold and $56,400 was raised.
