Result: Since 2001, baseball has been played in December and hundreds of toys have been donated to Toys for Tots as a direct result of this initiative.

Winterball

Winterball is a freeze-fest fundraiser played around the first weekend of December each year. Winterball participants are required to make a donation to charity to play in the game. Since 2001, the Boston Men's Baseball League has teamed with Charity Hop and the U.S. Marines and Toys for Tots. Each player entering the game was required to donate a toy to play. More than 40 players a year have participated each year in Winterball -- not bad considering an average temperature of 39°.

Charity Hop has managed all the logistics, from field permitting, player recruiting, donation collection, and arranging for Toys for Tots pickup. There has even been extensive media coverage.
